Job summary

Air Products’ Rotoflow is seeking a Senior Turbomachinery Aerodynamic Engineer in Bethlehem, PA to design, predict performance, and improve turbomachinery systems. You will work across the equipment lifecycle, applying CFD and 1D/2D/3D methods to deliver efficient solutions.

In this hybrid role, you will collaborate with aerodynamic, simulation, product, and manufacturing engineers, sharing expertise while supporting new product development and optimization of existing products.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of turbomachinery aerodynamics design experience.
• Experience with CFD-based aerodynamic analysis tools.
• Experience with flowpath components like impellers, vanes, compressors, or turboexpanders.
• Programming experience with Python, MATLAB, or similar languages is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform aerodynamic design activities for customer projects including flowpath optimization of rotating equipment.
• Conduct preliminary sizing and performance calculations during proposals, refining analyses during project execution.
• Apply CFD and 1D/2D/3D methods to predict performance and optimize designs.
• Develop and improve aerodynamic tools, sizing methods, and performance models.
• Collaborate with engineers across disciplines and external software vendors.
• Share best practices to ensure high-efficiency designs and robust analyses.
• Support new product development and lifecycle improvements of turbomachinery solutions.
• Contribute to testing, data analysis, commissioning, and root cause analysis.
• Apply fundamentals of fluid dynamics and turbomachinery engineering to solve complex challenges.
• Advocate for aerodynamic considerations across the system.
• Promote safety, inclusion, and continuous learning.
