Air Products is seeking a Sr Principal Mechanical Engineer to join the Rotoflow team in Bethlehem, PA or Houston, TX. You will apply turbomachinery design and analysis expertise to support high‑speed rotating equipment and related systems worldwide.

The role emphasizes project execution, collaboration with vendors and customers, and driving cost reductions while promoting safety and inclusion. Hybrid work with in‑office days is offered.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years turbomachinery or rotating machinery design experience.
• Deep understanding of design principles including FEA, rotordynamics, bearing and seal technologies, and design for manufacturability.
• Detail‑oriented, goal oriented, organized, creative, self‑motivated, collaborative and customer focused.
• Excellent analytical, creativity, problem solving, time management, and decision‑making skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills (written, verbal and presentation).
• Exemplify a passion for winning and ability to motivate teams.
• Ability to create an environment of trust and consistently exhibit a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Perform turbomachinery design analyses including FEA (stress, deflection, and modal), hand calculations, and rotordynamics.
• Development of standardized product deliverables collaborating with Product Owners.
• Executing mechanical design tasks related to awarded projects and product development initiatives, support of aftermarket activities and engineering tasks.
• Communicate with vendors on technical solutions.
• Support RCA of equipment and field commissioning and startup activities by the Aftermarket Team.
• Drive engineering and material cost reductions across projects and products with stakeholders.
• Collaborate with customers to ensure proper design and integration of equipment into the process.
• Select components and materials for turbomachinery and systems.
• Perform safety and operability reviews.
• Collaborate with various subject areas to finalize equipment designs.
• Checking and approving manufacturing drawings.
• Support bid estimate development.
• Develop new and standardized design engineering tools and processes with Business Improvement Team.
• Challenge norms with alternate solutions rooted in engineering fundamentals.
• Promote safety and diversity consistent with Rotoflow®.
