Job summary

Air Products is seeking a Senior Turbomachinery Aerodynamic Design Engineer to join Rotoflow in Bethlehem, PA. This hands-on role delivers advanced aerodynamic designs, performance predictions, and tool improvements for turboexpanders and related turbomachinery systems.

You will work across the equipment lifecycle—from proposal sizing to testing and commissioning—using CFD and 1D/2D/3D methods, and collaborating with engineers across disciplines.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline required.
• 5+ years of turbomachinery aerodynamic design experience required.
• Experience with aerodynamic design of flowpath components and turbomachinery tools required.
• Experience with CFD-based aerodynamic analysis tools required.
• Advanced degree preferred but not required.
• Experience with performance mapping and flowpath optimization preferred.
• Experience with AxCent or similar tools preferred.
• Programming experience in Python, MATLAB, or C++ preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform aerodynamic design activities for awarded customer projects, including flowpath optimization of impellers, vanes, centrifugal compressors, turboexpanders, and related rotating equipment to improve efficiency and performance.
• Perform sizing and performance calculations during proposals, then refine analyses through final equipment definition.
• Apply CFD and 1D/2D/3D methods for design and prediction needs.
• Develop and improve aerodynamic tools, sizing methods, and workflows.
• Collaborate with engineers across disciplines and with external software providers when appropriate.
• Share best practices to support high-efficiency designs and analysis methods.
• Contribute to new product development and improve existing products and solutions.
• Support testing, data analysis, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting.
