Qualifications

  • JD from an accredited law school.
  • Active member of the California State Bar in good standing.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of insurance defense litigation with a proven trial record.
  • First-chair jury trial experience in automobile liability, personal injury, and premises liability.
  • Experience handling high-exposure cases through verdict and managing a demanding caseload.
  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills with dispositive motion experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead evaluation and strategic direction of complex, high-exposure lawsuits and defense strategies.
  • Independently manage all phases of litigation from inception through verdict.
  • Direct evidence collection, retention of experts, and preparation of motions.
  • Serve as first-chair trial counsel in trials, arbitrations, mediations, and appellate proceedings.
  • Provide authoritative opinions to senior claims leadership and policyholders on complex matters.
  • Mentor junior attorneys and staff on litigation strategy and best practices.
  • Lead negotiation and settlement strategy on significant exposure cases.

Job Details
  • Lead the evaluation and strategic direction of complex, high-exposure lawsuits, leveraging deep litigation expertise to develop and execute aggressive defense strategies
  • Independently manage all phases of litigation from inception through verdict, including complex multi-party cases and high-stakes trials
  • Direct evidence collection, retention of experts, and preparation of compelling motions, including dispositive motions and motions in limine
  • Serve as first-chair trial counsel in jury and bench trials, arbitrations, mediations, and appellate proceedingsProvide authoritative legal opinions and strategic recommendations to senior claims leadership and policyholders on complex coverage and liability matters
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior attorneys and support staff on litigation strategy and best practices
  • Lead negotiation and settlement strategy on significant exposure cases, exercising independent judgment on valuation and resolution
Requirements
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active member of the California State Bar in good standing
  • Minimum 5-7 years of insurance defense litigation experience with a proven trial record
  • Demonstrated first-chair jury trial experience in automobile liability, personal injury, and premises liability matters
  • Extensive experience handling complex, high-exposure cases through verdict
  • Track record of managing a demanding, high-volume caseload with minimal supervision
  • Exceptional written and oral advocacy skills, including experience drafting and arguing dispositive motions
  • Strong leadership presence and ability to independently drive case strategy from assignment through resolution
