Job summary

Volkert Inc. is seeking an experienced Transportation Project Manager to support our Gulf Region across Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee.

You will provide project management and plan reviews, organize schedules, and lead design teams to deliver transportation projects for Volkert clients. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in transportation engineering, an ABET-accredited degree, and an Alabama PE license, with proficiency in MicroStation/OpenRoads and related tools.

Qualifications

B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
5+ years of transportation engineering experience with progression in project responsibilities.
Alabama Professional Engineer (PE) License.
Experience with industry software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, InRoads, ArcGIS, Synchro, VISSIM, SIDRA, or HCS.

Responsibilities

Provide project management and plan review for Volkert clients in Alabama.
Organize activities, schedules, and reports in support of transportation projects.
Lead or assist in developing project designs and direct designers to successfully execute and deliver project work.
Provide technical design and guidance on roadway design, traffic operations analysis, traffic signal design and timing, corridor and safety studies, temporary traffic control and traffic management plans, signing and pavement marking plans, and transportation planning and modeling.
Prepare engineering studies, documents, and reports.
Prepare, issue, and track project documentation such as contracts and change orders for all phases of assigned work.
Manage project budgets to meet financial metrics.
Prepare correspondence and documents with clients, subconsultants, and regulatory agencies as required.
Attend project meetings and interact with clients and the public about your work and the context of the plans you develop.
Market to new and existing clients and participate in business development activities.
Assist in the development of junior engineering staff and Engineering Interns.
Adhere to company standards for quality assurance and quality control as defined in the quality manual.
Perform other duties as assigned.
