Job summary

Volkert seeks a Transportation Project Engineer for the Gulf Region (AL, MS, TN). Responsibilities include leading roadway design, traffic operations analyses, and preparation of construction plans and reports.

The ideal candidate will hold an ABET-accredited BS in Civil Engineering, 4–10+ years in roadway design, a PE license, and fluency with DOT standards and OpenRoads/MicroStation. Overnight travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• 4-10+ years in roadway design, traffic engineering, or transportation planning.
• PE license required.
• Familiarity with DOT design methods, standards, and specifications.
• Knowledge of MUTCD and AASHTO guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead or assist in transportation design including roadway geometry, drainage, signals, signing, and markings.
• Perform traffic operations analyses and prepare related studies.
• Prepare construction plans, specs, quantities, and cost estimates.
• Conduct engineering calculations and apply DOT standards.
• Coordinate with EIs, designers, interns, and subconsultants to meet schedules and QA/QC.
• Participate in client meetings and business development.
