Job summary

Volkert is seeking an experienced Transportation Project Engineer to support our Gulf Region in Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee. The role requires 4+ years in traffic or roadway design and a PE license.

You will lead design, perform traffic analyses, prepare plans and reports, and coordinate with teams to deliver projects on schedule. Ideal candidates have ABET-accredited civil engineering degrees, familiarity with MUTCD/AASHTO, and proficiency in OpenRoads Designer or MicroStation.

Qualifications

ABET-accredited BS in Civil Engineering; MS a plus.
4–10+ years in roadway design, traffic engineering, or transportation planning.
PE license.
Familiarity with MUTCD and AASHTO guidelines.
Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer and/or MicroStation.
Proficiency with MS Office.
Willingness to travel overnight as needed.

Responsibilities

Lead or assist in transportation project design including roadway geometry and signals.
Conduct traffic operations analyses and prepare traffic studies.
Prepare construction plans, specs, quantities, and cost estimates.
Perform engineering calculations per DOT standards.
Direct EIs, designers, and interns, coordinating with subconsultants.
Participate in client meetings and business development.
Perform other duties as assigned.
