Job summary

Volkert Inc. in the Gulf Region (AL, MS, TN) seeks a Transportation Project Engineer with 4+ years in traffic or roadway design. You will lead design tasks, prepare plans, analyses, and coordinate with subconsultants, while ensuring DOT standards and QA/QC. A PE license and ABET-accredited degree are required; MS Office and OpenRoads/MicroStation proficiency are a plus, with travel to project sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• 4-10+ years in roadway design, traffic engineering, or transportation planning.
• PE license required.
• Familiarity with DOT design methods, standards, and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead or assist in transportation project design including roadway geometry, drainage, traffic signals, signing, and pavement marking.
• Conduct traffic operations analyses and prepare transportation planning studies.
• Prepare construction plans, specifications, quantities, and reports.
• Coordinate with EIs, designers, and subconsultants to meet schedules and budgets.
• Participate in client meetings and business development efforts.
