Job summary

RK&K is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead planning, design, and delivery of transportation projects nationwide. You will work with experienced engineers on Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3, and other delivery methods, using OpenRoads Designer for roadway design and modeling.

Fully remote candidates will be considered, with a hybrid arrangement based in Fairfax, VA preferred. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Eight (8)+ years of experience in transportation infrastructure design.
• Active PE license in VA or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Proficient in OpenRoads Designer (ORD) for roadway design and modeling.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
• Strong verbal and written communication and ability to work with dispersed teams.
• Familiarity with DOT standards and procedures (experience with multiple state DOTs is a plus).

Responsibilities

• Lead or support technical design on highways, interchanges, tollways, and transit corridors.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across offices to develop design solutions.
• Serve as a technical liaison between internal teams, clients, contractors and stakeholders.
• Develop and review plans, specifications, cost estimates, and design reports using ORD.
• Participate in proposal development, design-build pursuits, and technical presentations.
• Mentor junior engineers and support career development within the project team.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with standards and client requirements.
• Stay informed about industry trends and alternative delivery methods.
