Job summary

RK&K is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead the planning, design, and delivery of transportation projects across design-bid-build, design-build, P3 and other alternative delivery methods. You will prepare roadway design plans using OpenRoads Designer (ORD) and contribute to technical reports, modeling, and plan production tasks.

Hybrid work arrangement based in Fairfax, VA is preferred with fully remote considerations; travel may be required depending on project needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of transportation infrastructure design experience.
• Active PE license in VA or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer (ORD) for roadway design and modeling.
• Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with DOT standards and procedures; experience with multiple state DOTs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support technical design on diverse transportation projects (highways, interchanges, tollways, transit corridors).
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across offices to develop innovative, cost-effective design solutions.
• Serve as technical liaison between internal teams, clients, contractors and stakeholders.
• Develop and review plans, specs, estimates, and design reports using ORD.
• Participate in proposals, design-build pursuits, and technical presentations.
• Mentor junior engineers and support career development within the project team.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with standards and client requirements.
• Stay informed about industry trends and alternative delivery methods.
