Job summary

RK&K is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead planning, design, and delivery of transportation projects across design-bid-build, design-build, P3, and other delivery methods. You will collaborate with engineers and project managers on ORD-based roadway design, reports, modeling, and plan production.

Fully remote candidates will be considered, although a hybrid work arrangement based in Fairfax, VA is preferred. Travel may be necessary as required by the project.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years in transportation infrastructure design.
• VA PE license or eligibility within 6 months.
• Proficient in OpenRoads Designer (ORD) for roadway design.
• Strong organization and communication skills.
• Familiarity with DOT standards across multiple states.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support technical design on a range of transportation projects.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to develop design solutions.
• Serve as liaison between internal teams, clients, and stakeholders.
• Develop plans, specs, and cost estimates using ORD.
• Participate in proposals, design-build pursuits, and presentations.
• Mentor junior engineers and support career development.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with standards.
• Stay informed on industry trends and delivery methods.
