Job summary

Warehouse Services, Inc. seeks a Senior Transportation Operations Leader to provide senior-level leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight of the company’s transportation operations across multiple locations.

The role reports to Corporate Leadership and is responsible for safety, customer service, financial performance, asset utilization, and leadership development, with travel to customer sites and operations as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Transportation, Logistics, or related field preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive transportation or logistics leadership experience.
• Experience leading large-scale, multi-site transportation operations.
• Strong knowledge of fleet operations, DOT/FMCSA compliance, and transportation economics.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, operating results, cost controls, and profitability.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight for transportation operations across multiple locations and customer operations.
• Develop and execute transportation strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
• Establish performance expectations and hold transportation leaders accountable for operational and financial results.
• Drive improvements in safety, service, productivity, profitability, asset utilization, and driver performance.
• Monitor key performance indicators, operating costs, labor performance, equipment utilization, and customer service levels.
• Provide Corporate Leadership with regular reporting on performance, risks, opportunities, and corrective actions.
• Lead transportation budgeting, forecasting, cost-control, and profitability initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve routing, fleet utilization, driver productivity, maintenance coordination, and operating efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
• Build, develop, and retain a strong transportation leadership team.
• Partner with Human Resources on recruiting, retention, performance management, workforce planning, and leadership development.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers.
• Support new business opportunities, operational startups, customer implementations, acquisitions, and transportation network expansion.
• Drive continuous improvement and technology initiatives throughout transportation operations.
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, urgency, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

This position reports directly to Corporate Leadership and is accountable for operational excellence, safety, customer service, financial performance, asset utilization, and leadership development across the transportation organization.

This leader will establish clear expectations, drive accountability, and develop strategies that support continued growth, efficiency, and profitability.

• 10+ years of progressive transportation or logistics leadership experience.
• Significant experience leading large-scale, multi-site transportation operations.
• Strong knowledge of fleet operations, dedicated transportation, driver management, DOT/FMCSA compliance, and transportation economics.
• Demonstrated experience managing budgets, operating results, cost controls, and profitability.
• Proven ability to build high-performing teams and develop operational leaders.
• Strong financial, analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate operational performance and recommendations to Corporate Leadership.
• Willingness to travel regularly to transportation operations and customer locations.

The Senior Transportation Operations Leader is expected to be a visible, hands‑on leader who combines strategic thinking with a strong understanding of day‑to‑day transportation operations.

This individual will challenge existing processes, establish accountability throughout the transportation organization, develop strong leaders, and take ownership of operational and financial performance.
