Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Lead Transportation Engineer with highway design expertise to join our Civil Engineering group in the Mid Atlantic District. The role involves leading technical design programs, coordinating client sessions, and mentoring the transportation team across multiple sites.

You will develop construction plans, manage complex infrastructure projects, and ensure adherence to standards while coordinating with owners and sub-consultants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or closely related discipline; may have postgraduate education.
• 7 to 10 years of post-education experience in engineering and civil design.
• P.E. license required (multi-state preferred).
• Proficient with civil engineering principles, practices, processes, and the application to permitting and project work.
• Extensive knowledge of infrastructure and highway design.
• Highly proficient with technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software, and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop construction plans, specifications, reports and cost estimates and coordinate with owners, disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.
• Lead client-facing engagement sessions centered on technical memoranda.
• Support/lead large-scale heavy civil projects and ensure alignment of roles and deliverables.
• Review permits, plans, specs, standalone plans, and contracts for compliance and sound engineering practice.
• Ensure reports and presentations explain findings and recommendations clearly.
