Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Technical Manager to lead drainage and stormwater projects in the Mid-Atlantic region from Herndon, VA or Washington, D.C. You will guide hydraulic modeling, open-channel and closed conduit design, and multi-disciplinary teams to deliver resilient water resources solutions.

The role requires a PE license, 10+ years in water resources, and strong client coordination. You will mentor staff, support proposals, and ensure QA/QC across projects, contributing to regional growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Water Resources Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer license required. Virginia, Maryland and/or District of Columbia P.E. licenses preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant post-education experience in the A/E/C industry with a technical client-facing background in the water resources sector.
  • Experience in water resources engineering including with hydraulic modeling of open-channel and closed conduit systems.
  • Ability to manage several projects concurrently and provide senior-level input as technical manager.
  • Proficient knowledge of Stormwater Management, Drainage, Hydrology & Hydraulics Design, Watershed Studies, Floodplain Delineation.
  • Experience with project and client development/relationship management.
  • Proficient coordination with agency regulators and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform professional civil engineering on roadway, stormwater, and site projects for multiple federal, state, and local clients.
  • Provide engineering services and project/task management of drainage design, stormwater management, flood control and H&H modeling.
  • Coordinate complex multi-disciplinary traditional design and alternative delivery projects.
  • Mentor younger staff in the development of their design skills.
  • Permit, engage in public participation, and coordinate with regulatory agencies and clients.
  • Oversee cross-functional teams in budgets, hours, expenses, and task completion.
  • Stay current in drainage and stormwater standards and water resources techniques.
