Job summary

WSP USA seeks a Senior Technical Manager to lead drainage and stormwater projects in the Mid-Atlantic. Based in Herndon, VA or DC, you will guide hydraulic analyses, design delivery, and client relations while mentoring staff and ensuring regulatory compliance.

The role emphasizes multi-project leadership, adherence to QA/QC, and collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver resilient infrastructure and effective flood control solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Water Resources Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer license (VA, MD and/or DC preferred).
  • 10+ years of relevant post-education experience in the A/E/C industry with a client-facing background in water resources.
  • Experience in water resources engineering including hydraulic modeling of open-channel and closed conduit systems.
  • Ability to manage several projects concurrently and provide senior-level input and leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Perform professional civil engineering on drainage and stormwater projects for federal, state, and local clients.
  • Lead project/task management of drainage design, stormwater management, flood control and H&H modeling.
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary design projects and ensure data integrity and code compliance.
  • Mentor junior staff in drainage and stormwater design.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Oversee cross-functional teams, budgets, hours, and task completion.
  • Support business development activities in the region.
