Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Lead Professional, Civil Engineering to join our Mid-Atlantic South District civil team in Washington, DC or Herndon, VA. This is a client-facing, highly technical leadership role.

You will provide engineering review, ADA/DOT compliance, remediation planning, and cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Safety, and Real Estate to align project delivery with client needs. Mentorship and strategic advisory are key facets of the position.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer license in VA, MD, or DC is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 10+ years of post-education experience in civil/infrastructure design.
• Advanced proficiency with infrastructure design and applicable regulations.
• Ability to lead, review, and guide teams with QA/QC discipline.
• Strong interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive senior leadership for the Mid-Atlantic civil team and client deliverables.
• Review engineering plans, estimates, and reports for regulatory compliance.
• Assess ADA/ABA/DOT standards for facilities and accessibility design.
• Develop remediation plans balancing safety, usability, and capital needs.
• Collaborate with Operations, Safety, Capital Planning, and Real Estate.
• Contribute to dashboards tracking remediation progress and trends.
• Mentor staff and provide performance guidance.
• Represent the civil team with external agencies and clients.
