Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Lead Professional, Civil Engineering to join our Mid-Atlantic South District civil team in Washington, DC or Herndon, Virginia. You will provide technical leadership to ensure high-quality design and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

This client-facing role emphasizes growth-minded leadership, engineering reviews, and collaboration across Operations and Capital Planning to deliver funded projects in the DC metropolitan region.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer license in VA, MD, or DC required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline required.
• 10+ years of relevant post-education experience in engineering, civil and infrastructure design.
• Advanced proficiency with infrastructure design.
• Strong knowledge of civil construction laws, codes, regulations, and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive and strategic leadership as a senior member of the Mid Atlantic civil team, offering direction and support to ensure project deliverables meet client requirements.
• Perform engineering review of design plans, specifications, and reports to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
• Review ADA/ABA/DOT accessibility standards for transit facilities and related infrastructure.
• Develop remediation plans balancing safety, usability, and capital planning needs.
• Collaborate with Operations, Safety, Maintenance, and Real Estate for project planning and funding decisions.
