Job summary

ICF Power Delivery Services in Reston, VA seeks an experienced power system engineer with deep stability expertise to independently execute transient stability and dynamic simulation studies. You will serve as a technical resource to clients and project teams, mentor junior engineers, and help develop less-experienced staff.

You will lead stability analyses for generation interconnections, coordinate with ISOs, and develop automation tools in Python to improve study efficiency.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited institution
• 8+ years of experience in power system studies focusing on transient stability and dynamic simulation
• Hands-on experience with stability studies using PSS/E, PSLF or equivalent
• Must be located in the United States, Canada or Puerto Rico

Responsibilities

• Lead transient stability and dynamic simulation studies for utility planning and interconnection work using PSS/E, PSLF, and TSAT
• Develop, review, validate, and tune dynamic models and conduct model quality tests
• Assess stability performance against NERC TPL-001 and regional planning criteria
• Perform voltage stability, weak-grid, and short-circuit-ratio screening; coordinate EMT studies as needed
• Lead stability portions of interconnection studies and mentor junior engineers
• Develop Python-based automation to improve study execution and data workflows
• Support steady-state load flow and contingency analysis for planning studies
• Author and QA technical study reports for regulatory filings and client deliverables
• Participate in business development through proposals and scoping discussions
