Job summary

Duke Energy seeks a Lead Engineer to provide technical leadership for Dynamic Stability studies within Grid Stability & Advanced Studies. You will guide complex engineering analyses, mentor staff, and coordinate with MISO/PJM planning, regulators, and stakeholders to ensure reliable grid growth.

The role requires strong communication, project leadership, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams while representing the company in industry forums. Hybrid work arrangements are available.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Engineering from ABET-accredited program is required; MS considered.
8 years related work experience and Professional Engineer registration are required.
Experience with transmission planning and dynamic stability analysis is preferred.
Experience with MISO and PJM planning processes and stakeholder coordination is a plus.
Strong analytical, writing, and presentation skills; ability to mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

Perform dynamic stability, EMT, and other advanced power system analyses.
Provide technical leadership for complex engineering studies and modeling standards.
Coordinate with MISO and PJM planning organizations and stakeholders.
Lead technical guidance and oversight for consultant studies and deliverables.
Present technical findings to leadership and external entities; prepare reports.
Support development of study methodologies and planning processes; mentor engineers.
Represent Duke Energy in industry forums and regulatory bodies.
Ensure adherence to NERC and regional planning requirements.
