Job summary

ICF is seeking an experienced power system stability engineer to independently lead transient stability and dynamic simulations for utility planning and interconnection studies. You will build, validate, and interpret dynamic models for conventional and inverter-based resources, coordinate with regional criteria, and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited college or university.
• 8+ years of experience in power system studies, focusing on transient stability and dynamic simulation analysis.
• Hands-on experience with stability studies using PSS/E, PSLF, or equivalent.
• Must be located in the United States, Canada or Puerto Rico.

Responsibilities

• Lead transient stability and dynamic simulation studies for utility planning and interconnection work using PSS/E, PSLF, and TSAT.
• Develop, review, validate, and tune dynamic models, including generic renewable models and user-defined models.
• Assess stability performance against NERC TPL-001 and regional criteria, including ride-through requirements.
• Perform voltage stability checks, weak-grid screening, and coordinate EMT studies where needed.
• Lead stability portion of large interconnection studies and act as technical study lead or project manager.
• Develop Python-based automation to improve study execution and data workflows.
