Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Lead Transmission Siting and Permitting Project Manager to lead technically complex siting and environmental permitting projects for electric transmission, substations, and renewables. The role combines hands‑on routing and permitting with project management, mentoring, and client interaction.

The successful candidate will guide multidisciplinary teams, manage multiple projects, and contribute to client relationships and business development while remaining closely connected

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, biology, natural sciences or ecology, environmental planning, environmental science, or related field
• 10+ years of experience managing environmental permitting and planning projects for energy‑related infrastructure
• Demonstrated ability to lead project teams and work independently
• Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills with clients, agencies and colleagues
• Experience preparing proposals, presentations, and project pricing structures
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including defining and managing client requirements
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills for complex data and regulatory contexts
• Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with company policies
• Flexibility to travel occasionally according to project needs

Responsibilities

• Serve as Project Manager or Task Leader, managing multiple projects at different stages, sizes, and locations
• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams including engineers, planners, environmental scientists and attorneys
• Provide clear direction and support to ensure high‑quality, timely deliverables
• Mentor junior and mid‑level staff and support their growth
• Support business development, including client relationships and proposal strategies
• Ensure adherence to quality standards, budgets, schedules and policies
• Exercise ethical decision‑making in line with company conduct and client commitments
