Job summary

WSP seeks a Lead Transmission Siting and Permitting Project Manager for PA, NJ, or MD offices to support a growing portfolio of electric transmission, substation, and renewable energy projects. The role combines hands‑on routing and environmental permitting with project management, mentorship, and client interaction.

The successful candidate will oversee complex siting work, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage client relationships, and contribute to the growth of WSP’s transmission siting

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, biology, natural sciences or ecology, environmental planning, environmental science, or related field (or equivalent)
• 10+ years of experience managing environmental permitting and planning projects for energy‑related infrastructure
• Demonstrated ability to lead project teams and guide staff
• Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills for client, agency, and team interactions
• Experience preparing proposals, presentations, and project pricing
• Excellent written and verbal communication with clients and stakeholders
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills with ability to synthesize complex information
• Commitment to safety and compliance with WSP policies
• Willingness to travel occasionally as required

Responsibilities

• Serve as siting and environmental permitting SME for electric transmission, substations, and renewable energy projects
• Manage routing and siting studies, analyses, and related technical reports
• Provide technical oversight for environmental permitting and planning across project phases
• Develop public involvement programs including open houses, meetings, and hearings
• Apply professional judgment to evaluate field data and regulatory requirements
• Coordinate with state agencies and decision-makers across jurisdictions
• Lead as Project Manager or Task Leader, handling multiple projects
• Direct multidisciplinary project teams of engineers, planners, scientists, permitting specialists, attorneys, and real estate professionals
• Mentor junior staff and support professional development
• Support business development, client relationships, proposals, and pricing
• Ensure adherence to quality standards, budgets, schedules, and company policies
• Exercise ethical decision-making regarding resources, conduct, and commitments
