Job summary

Xcel Energy, based in Texas, is seeking a seasoned Project/Portfolio Manager to lead extremely large and complex substation and transmission line programs. The role drives schedules, budgets, risks, and resources, while building strong internal and external partnerships.

Hybrid role with on-site collaboration and strategic advisory responsibilities; requires a PMP and 10+ years of supervisory project leadership in energy infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years' experience in supervisory role overseeing complex technical projects.
• PMP Certification (must be obtained within 18 months in the position).
• Advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in project management; cross-functional interaction; work direction; and performance management.
• Knowledge of transmission engineering and construction projects.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.

Responsibilities

• Defines workflows, accountabilities, resource requirements, and reporting relationships to obtain optimum project/portfolio implementation effectiveness and efficiency.
• Develop and direct implementation processes for the multi-year Transmission project/portfolio workbook plan. This includes establishing and managing service level agreements; identifying, securing and managing necessary internal/external service provider resources. Provide daily management of project/portfolio managers to insure that the workbook plan is implemented within scope, timing, and forecast guidelines.
• Establishes and maintains excellent working relationships with internal and external organizations to optimize project/portfolio implementation effectiveness.
• Continuously analyzes project/portfolio implementation effectiveness and creates, conceptualizes, and implements improvements.
• Responsible for providing strategic and tactical guidance and decision making associated with public and regulatory issues that are encountered during project/portfolio implementation.
• Aligns project/portfolio implementation policies and procedures with company objectives and strategies.
