Job summary

WSP is seeking an experienced Transmission Planning Engineer to join our Electrical Studies, SCADA, and Protection (ESSP) team, based in our Denver, CO office. Candidates for our offices in Fort Worth, Orlando, Phoenix, Overland Park, Pittsburgh, Raleigh, and fully remote will also be considered.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Engineer in Training Certification.
7–10 years of direct experience in transmission planning studies and stability analysis.
Experience with multiple power system software packages (PSS/E, PSLF, PSCAD, etc.).
Ability to automate changes and re-balance planning cases with engineering judgement.
Must reside and work within the United States.

Responsibilities

Perform or lead transmission planning studies, including power flow and contingency analysis, short circuit analysis, dynamic stability analysis, and reactive power studies.
Prepare reports including study assumptions, findings, and recommendations.
Mentor junior engineers and promote QA/QC.
Support business development activities, including proposal development and client meetings.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency using automation and AI tools.
Collaborate with engineers and clients to deliver planning solutions.
Ensure adherence to industry practices and standards.
