Job summary

GFT is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to join our Power Business Group. The role offers hybrid work options across multiple US locations or remote for the right candidate, focusing on design of transmission lines and energy infrastructure.

You will lead project design efforts, develop specifications, and coordinate with clients and internal teams while ensuring compliance with NESC and IEEE standards. PE license favored, with strong writing and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• 4+ years of experience in transmission line design.
• In-depth knowledge of NESC, IEEE, NEC, and related standards.
• High proficiency in PLS-CADD and related design software.
• Experience in electrical utility consulting is preferred.
• Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission line segments using PLS-CADD or similar software.
• Develop design criteria documents and construction specifications.
• Prepare construction packages with structure details, material lists, staking tables, and stringing charts.
• Estimate project costs, resources, labor, and materials with realistic deadlines.
• Write and review specifications per NESC/IEEE/NEC and industry standards.
• Conduct feasibility and routing studies, EMF calculations for planning.
• Oversee project implementation and verify foundations and equipment installation.
• Lead or assist with proposals and business development.
• Travel to client sites for definition and execution phases.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and technicians.
