Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a seasoned transmission line engineer to design lines from 69kV to 500kV and guide projects from concept through construction. You will perform cost analyses, develop design criteria, and route and site transmission projects while coordinating with vendors, clients, and internal teams.

Ideal candidates have ABET-accredited degrees, strong PLS-CADD skills, and 5+ years on project teams. A hybrid work arrangement is offered with frequent client interaction.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD for reviewing transmission line models.
• Minimum 5 years on project teams with design, cost estimates, scheduling and procurement experience for transmission lines.
• Ability to verify right of way, sag/tension, and construction documents.
• Knowledge of design codes (NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318).
• MS Office proficiency; strong written and verbal communication; detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines in the 69kV–500kV range.
• Lead cost analyses, criteria development, routing and siting.
• Specify line components with vendors and clients; liaise with construction.
• Mentor staff, coordinate with project teams and clients.
• Develop proposals and cost estimates for new work.
