Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer to design and analyze transmission lines from 69kV to 500kV. You will work with experienced engineers, mentor staff, and interact with diverse clients while developing proposals and cost estimates for new work.

The role requires a BS degree from an ABET-accredited program, strong knowledge of PLS-CADD, and at least five years of project experience. Occasional travel and collaboration with vendors and clients are expected.

Qualifications

• Requires a BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD software and ability to review transmission line models.
• 5+ years of experience on transmission line projects including design, cost estimate development, scheduling, and procurement specifications.
• Knowledge to verify/review right-of-way requirements, conductor sags/tensions, and construction documents.
• Familiarity with design codes and standards such as NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 500kV range; develop design criteria and determine routing/siting.
• Conduct cost analyses and prepare procurement specifications for transmission line materials.
• Perform conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding, and induction analyses.
• Collaborate with vendors and clients to specify transmission line components.
• Lead a small project team and coordinate with construction and installation teams.
• Develop proposals and cost estimates for new work and participate in client meetings.
