Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a senior transmission line engineer in Parsippany, NJ. You will design transmission lines from 69kV to 500kV, perform cost analyses, develop design criteria, and coordinate with vendors and clients to specify components. You will work with a project team, managing schedules and budgets.

This hybrid role requires a BS in engineering and PLS-CADD proficiency, with opportunities for relocation support depending on location.

Qualifications

• This position requires a BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD software to review transmission line models.
• 7+ years of experience on transmission assignments including design, cost estimation, scheduling, and procurement specifications.
• Knowledge to verify right of way requirements, conductor sag/tension, drawings and construction documents.
• Familiarity with design codes and standards such as NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications and strong communication skills.
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 500kV range.
• Conduct cost analyses, develop design criteria, routing and siting of transmission lines.
• Conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding and induction studies.
• Collaborate with vendors and clients to specify transmission line components.
• Occasional travel for site visits and client meetings.
• Develop proposals and cost estimates for new work.
