Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in the United States seeks a senior transmission design engineer to lead and mentor a design team. You will develop concepts, determine design bases, select equipment, and prepare calculations and specifications for 69kV–500kV transmission lines.

Work will be hybrid, with three days in the office and relocation assistance available based on location. You will collaborate with clients to ensure compliance with codes and project requirements.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in engineering.
• 10+ years of transmission design experience.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD software.
• Experience developing scopes of work, conceptual designs, design basis, equipment/material selection, and calculations/specifications.
• Experience with 69kV–500kV transmission lines.
• Knowledge of NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• Experience reviewing design drawings.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines from 69kV to 500kV.
• Mentor and train less experienced design team members.
• Coordinate design activities to meet specs, codes, and client requirements.
• Prepare reports/studies presenting technical information per Sargent & Lundy formats.
• Perform independent reviews of work including calculations, drawings, and transmission line models in PLS-CADD.
• Adhere to Sargent & Lundy’s System of Processes.
