Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a transmission line engineer to design high-voltage lines using PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE for 345 kV and above. You will develop drawings, BOMs, and foundation details while ensuring compliance with NESC, RUS, ASCE 7 and internal standards. You will mentor designers and coordinate with engineers on challenging projects.

Applicants should have a technical degree and 5+ years in transmission line design; leadership and strong communication are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Associates or technical school degree or combination of education and relevant experience.
• 5+ years of experience in transmission line engineering design.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE (wood, steel, concrete).
• Strong verbal and written communication; detail-oriented.
• Knowledge of design codes such as NESC, RUS, ASCE 7.
• Ability to lead a team of designers/technicians.

Responsibilities

• Perform transmission line design in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE for wood, steel, and concrete structures.
• Develop project drawings and documents: plan/profiles, BOMs, assembly and foundation details.
• Interpret and apply standards to independently execute projects with oversight.
• Ensure designs meet project specs and company quality standards.
• Contribute to internal design procedures and standards; mentor/train staff.
• Attend project site visits occasionally.
