Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in North Carolina seeks a transmission line engineer to apply expertise from 69kV to 765kV design, including structural, foundation, and conductor studies. You will model lines in PLS-CADD, evaluate ROW, and prepare plans and specifications in collaboration with vendors.

The role supports a hybrid work schedule with three days in the office and two remote days, plus a relocation package where applicable. ABET engineering degree and 3+ years of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree is required.
• Related engineering, internship or co-op experience.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
• 3+ years of experience in transmission line engineering.
• Knowledge of producing technical plans, drawings and models.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines in the 69kV–765kV range.
• Perform structural analysis and design of pole, lattice, framed, and guyed structures.
• Perform foundation designs.
• Conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding and induction studies.
• Develop cost estimates and procurement specifications for materials and construction.
• Model lines in PLS-CADD, assess ROW, calculate conductor sags and prepare drawings.
• Review vendor submittals.
