We are seeking an experienced Transmission Line Engineer to join our team. This is a full-time, fully remote position with some travel for site visits, client meetings, or field verification.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complete structural design and analysis of transmission poles, towers, and lattice structures using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, and related software suites
- Conduct line routing, spotting, and sag‑tension calculations in PLS-CADD
- Develop and review foundation designs for transmission structures (caissons, direct‑embed, spread footings, etc.)
- Prepare structural calculations, load trees, and construction drawings/packages
- Coordinate with PLS-CADD drafting teams and ensure compliance with NESC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, and utility‑specific standards
- Perform wire clearance analysis, thermal rating studies, and structural reliability assessments
- Participate in project scoping, cost estimating, and client interaction
- Provide construction support and respond to field RFIs as needed
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline
- Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in transmission line design (69 kV to 500 kV preferred)
- Advanced proficiency in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE
- Strong background in structural analysis and design of steel (hot‑rolled and cold‑formed) and concrete structures
- Experience with foundation design and geotechnical coordination
- Excellent understanding of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and relevant industry standards
- Strong preference for the candidate to reside in the Central or Eastern Time Zone (CST/EST)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with 3D modeling, AutoCAD, AutoDesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar
- Familiarity with MFAD, L‑Pile, or other foundation analysis software
- Previous work on utility‑scale transmission projects for major utilities or EPC firms
