Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a Transmission Line Crew Supervisor Non-Exempt in Ohio. You will supervise field line work for construction, maintenance, and operation of transmission lines and stations, plan work and outages, and ensure safety rules are followed.

You’ll lead crews, procure materials, and maintain records. Strong leadership and 5 years of line experience are expected; a CDL is required, and significant travel/overtime may be needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Thorough knowledge of line construction and maintenance gained through experience such as Transmission Line Mechanic A.
• Typically 5 years of construction or maintenance and operation of transmission lines.
• Demonstrated leadership skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise line crews in construction, maintenance and operation of transmission lines with safe practices.
• Ensure proper and safe use of tools and equipment and supervise personnel.
• Procure materials, tools and equipment as required.
• Follow company practices, policies and standards for transmission line work.
• Maintain good relations with employees and public safety around facilities.
• Apply the Management Information and Policy Manual, labor contracts and handbooks.
• Attend supervisory, site visit and scheduling meetings as required.
• Maintain contacts between functions and other parts of the company.
• Keep supervisor informed and maintain records and reports as required.
• Perform duties of Transmission Line Mechanic-A as needed.
• Recommend employment actions (promotion, discipline, discharge) as appropriate.
