Job summary

American Electric Power in Ardmore, AL is seeking a supervisory Transmission Line Mechanic-A to oversee field line work, plan outages, and ensure safety and efficiency.

You will lead crews, procure materials, maintain records, and coordinate with other divisions while upholding AEP safety rules and leadership framework.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and about 5 years of experience in transmission line construction or maintenance; a CDL and strong leadership are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED.
• Typically 5 years of construction or maintenance and operation of transmission lines; leadership abilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise line crews in the construction, maintenance and operation of transmission lines assuring safe work rules and practices are being followed.
• Assure the proper and safe use of tools and equipment, and the safety, welfare and training of personnel assigned.
• Procure materials, tools and equipment as required; comply with practices, policies and standards of the Company that apply to transmission line work.
• Maintain good relations with employees and the safety to the public in regard to Company facilities and operations.
• Attend supervisory, site visit, and work scheduling meetings as required.
• Maintain contacts between assigned functions and other respective parts of the Company; keep immediate supervisor advised on activities and make and maintain records and reports as required.
• Perform the duties of a Transmission Line Mechanic-A as required; make effective recommendations for employment, promotion, discipline and discharge of personnel assigned.
