Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a Station Supervisor to oversee Electrician/Servicer crews in construction, maintenance and operations at transmission stations. You will plan, schedule and direct daily activities, ensuring safe work practices and adherence to company policies while coordinating with other crews and responding to outages.

The role requires substantial HV knowledge, leadership experience, and the ability to read technical drawings, manage materials, and maintain records.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in electrical/mechanical/industrial maintenance technology or equivalent.
• Valid state driver's license.
• Minimum 6 years of station experience; 4+ years may be considered.
• Knowledge of HV electrical equipment operation and maintenance.
• Ability to read prints and manufacturers' drawings.
• Basic computer skills.
• Familiarity with safety rules and first aid procedures.
• Strong supervisory and communication abilities.
• Ability to interact courteously with employees, customers and the public.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct the activity of the assigned crew in construction, maintenance, operation and/or responding to station trouble calls and restoration.
• Ensure proper and safe use of tools and equipment, and the safety and training of personnel.
• Implement short-range work plans and organize daily work activities for the crew.
• Respond to emergency situations and outages; independently respond to distribution outages when required.
• Procure materials, tools and equipment as required.
• Comply with company safety rules and labor contracts applicable to transmission station work.
• Maintain good interpersonal relationships with employees, vendors, contractors and the public.
• Attend supervisory and scheduling meetings and maintain records and reports.
• Perform duties of a Station Electrician and/or Station Servicer as required.
• Assist with remote stores inventory if located distant from headquarters.
