Job summary

HDR is seeking a national Transmission EPC Project Engineering Lead within our Power Delivery Practice to drive technical bid development, estimating, and the transition from pursuit to execution for transmission EPC projects across utility, renewable and data-center markets.

You will lead pursuit efforts as champion, coordinate with HDR leads and partners on risk analysis, routing, design, and value engineering, and guide front-end engineering and team development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil and/or Mechanical Engineering.
• 10 years of experience in transmission design.
• Professional Engineering License.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Minimum 5 years of experience building and leading engineering teams on EPC projects.
• Experience developing EPC design and construction packages.
• Specific experience performing all aspects of transmission line design, procurement and construction up to 500 kV.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Pursuit Champion / Manager on Transmission EPC projects and transition project management duties to the Project Manager and execution team upon award.
• Collaborate with construction partners and HDR technical leads to discuss technical risk analysis, mitigation, preliminary routing and design, bill-of-material take-off support, and provide value engineering and constructability solutions.
• Lead scope, schedule and budget development for AD projects, coordinating with land survey, geotechnical, distribution, substation, environmental, real-estate and GIS staff.
• Estimate technical investments before the Go/No-Go discussion and share risk evaluation with commercial, business-development and operations leaders.
• Interface with construction contractors and HDR subconsultants throughout pursuit and project to drive risk identification and mitigation conversations.
• Assist in Go/No-Go discussions, project risk assessments, SOQs, proposals, interviews and negotiations as required.
• As the AD program grows, work with power delivery and operations leadership to build out front-end engineering & design (FEED) teams.
• Serve in project technical leadership roles such as engineering manager, discipline lead, or technical advisor, and conduct ongoing technical risk analysis to determine handoff timing.
• When not involved in pursuits or projects, develop templates, standards, specifications, drawings, processes and procedures supporting transmission line EPC pursuits and projects, and provide best‑practice guidance.
• Lead team development, mentorship and leadership of Project Managers, Engineering Managers and specific discipline practitioners.
• Perform other duties as needed.
• Report directly to the Alternative Delivery Director.
