Job summary

HDR is seeking a national Transmission EPC Project Engineering Lead within our Power Delivery Practice. This role focuses on technical bid development, estimating, and transitioning pursuits to execution for transmission EPC projects across utility, developer, renewable, battery or data-center markets.

Responsibilities include leading pursuit efforts, collaborating on risk analysis, scope, schedule and budget, and building FEED teams as the program grows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil and/or Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional Engineering License (PE).
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• 10 years of experience in transmission design.
• 5+ years leading engineering teams on EPC projects.
• Experience with EPC design & construction packages.
• Experience up to 500 kV transmission line design and construction.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Pursuit Champion on Transmission EPC projects and transition duties to PM/execution team.
• Collaborate with contractors and HDR leads on risk analysis, routing, design, BOM take-off, value engineering and constructability.
• Lead scope, schedule and budget development for AD projects with land survey, geotechnical, distribution, substation, environmental, real-estate and GIS teams.
• Estimate technical investments before Go/No‑Go and share risk evaluations with commercial, BD and operations leaders.
• Interface with construction contractors and HDR subconsultants to drive risk discussions and mitigation.
• Assist in Go/No‑Go discussions, risk assessments, SOQs, proposals, interviews and negotiations.
• As AD program grows, build FEED teams with power delivery and operations leadership.
• Serve in technical leadership roles and conduct ongoing risk analysis to determine handoff timing.
• Develop templates, standards, drawings, processes and procedures for transmission EPC pursuits and projects; provide best-practice guidance.
• Lead team development and mentorship of PMs, Engineering Managers and discipline practitioners.
• Perform other duties as needed.
• Report to the Alternative Delivery Director.
