Job summary

Burns & McDonnell seeks a Senior Transmission Engineer to lead the design of complex transmission line projects in Albuquerque. You will provide technical oversight, mentor staff, and ensure design quality across concept through completion.

The role requires strong CAD/analysis tool proficiency, collaboration with clients and vendors, and adherence to industry standards and safety. Travel to site is expected as needed.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Civil Engineering degree required with 7 years transmission engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead transmission design from concept to design completion.
• Prepare equipment specs, RFQs, technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
• Lead conductor design studies, lightning performance, and grounding calculations.
• Ensure compliance with NERC, FERC, and regional standards.
• Review vendor drawings and interface with suppliers and other disciplines.
• Develop project schedules, budgets, and staffing plans; manage change orders.
• Perform QA/QC and lead field inspections and testing.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Communicate project performance and present technical reports.
• Assist in sales efforts and identify pursuits.
