Job summary

HDR is seeking a Resident Engineer to support LACMTA transit projects in Los Angeles. You will oversee field and office engineering, manage contract administration, and ensure compliance with design and regulatory requirements.

The role requires 10+ years in transit construction and a PE license. You will lead safety reviews, monitor schedules and budgets, prepare change orders, and maintain thorough project records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field.
• 10 years related experience in construction including estimating, bidding, scheduling, and field engineering.
• Requires professional engineering license (PE) recognized by the licensing board.

Responsibilities

• Verifies safety and monitors contractor operations per project requirements.
• Reviews contractor operations for compliance with plans, specs and regulations.
• Prepares contract change orders for alterations or additions to plans.
• Maintains complete project records, diaries, and documentation for audits.
• Assists in managing project schedule and budget to meet goals.
• Communicates with the Project Manager and LACMTA on progress and issues.
• Ensures conformance with contract documents and procedures.
