Job summary

HDR is seeking a Construction Manager/Resident Engineer in California. The role focuses on coordinating subcontractors for rail transit projects, maintaining schedules, and controlling costs.

Preferred candidates hold 15+ years in construction planning, PMP/CCM, and have rail transit experience. Must be able to navigate owner, engineer, contractor relationships while supporting HDR’s employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in construction planning and management including contracts, scheduling, cost control, and procurement.
• Experience with bidding, purchase orders, subcontracts, and change management.
• Ability to interact with Owner, Engineer, Contractor and stakeholders; strong people skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate subcontractor activities, scheduling and quality control for substation facilities in rail transit systems in Northern CA Bay Area.
• Develop procedures and implement with the project team; manage procurement and schedules.
• Lead constructability reviews, value engineering, and cost control for projects.
• Administer construction activities and monitor design progress relative to construction needs.
• Coordinate bidding efforts, quotes, and procurements; manage submittals and approvals.
• Manage project budget, schedule, and quality assurance services; ensure safety compliance.
