Job summary

Nu is seeking an experienced Traffic Management Engineer to ensure reliability, scalability, and security of the service mesh across regions. You will own the platform from design to rollout, balance performance with security, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enable rapid, safe product delivery.

Strong emphasis on observability, incident response, and AI-assisted workflows will be core to the role.

Qualifications

Operated large-scale, high-performance synchronous distributed systems in the cloud.
Experience with load balancers, proxies, TLS/mTLS and routing, plus monitoring via metrics/logs/traces.
Hands-on with Kubernetes-based infra and IaC tooling.
Uses AI daily to investigate issues, write/review code and automate tasks with quality checks.
Led end-to-end infra projects from design to production go-live, with risk management.
Familiar with Istio or similar service-mesh tech and traffic policy design.
Proficient with AWS networking/compute primitives in production.

Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end milestones on the traffic platform from definition to rollout.
Break complex problems into clear tasks and track progress and risks.
Ensure stability, test coverage and observability; respond to incidents and drive improvements.
Collaborate with engineers, product and partner teams to create technical plans.
Leverage AI tools to investigate issues and automate repetitive work compliantly.
Create and maintain runbooks and technical documentation for others.
Mentor peers through code reviews and design discussions.
Participate in on-call routines and drive platform improvements.
