Job summary

Intuit seeks a Staff Engineer to provide technical leadership across the Traffic platform, steering API Gateway, Service Mesh, and MCP Gateway with a system-wide view of interactions and risk. The role focuses on enabling AI-agent-driven traffic operations and secure, scalable authentication and routing for evolving AI integrations.

You will mentor senior engineers, shape multi-quarter roadmaps, and own major migrations end-to-end, ensuring backward compatibility and controlled blast radius

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with large-scale, low-latency distributed systems.
• Deep hands-on expertise with Envoy and Istio or equivalent service mesh and API gateway architectures.
• Strong systems-level programming in Go and/or Java, with cross-language experience.
• Experience designing authentication/authorization for high-throughput traffic (OAuth, mTLS, token exchange).
• Track record leading incident response and root-cause analysis for P1/P2 issues.
• Experience with AWS networking and scale-aware cost/performance trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior technical leader for the Traffic platform, setting architecture and engineering direction across API Gateway, Service Mesh, and MCP Gateway.
• Drive design and hardening of the MCP Gateway, including auth flows for AI agents and performance/security readiness.
• Lead AI-agent-enabled traffic operations, automated config impact analysis, and service onboarding.
• Own migrations end-to-end with backward compatibility and blast-radius containment.
• Apply resiliency practices and lead incident root-cause analysis and durable fixes.
• Mentor engineers and align technical strategy across multiple teams.
