Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the Traffic platform, guiding API Gateway, Service Mesh, and MCP Gateway initiatives that enable AI-agent-driven traffic operations. This role emphasizes both deep Envoy/Istio expertise and strategic platform planning.

You will collaborate across Gateway, Mesh, MCP/3X, and Resiliency teams, drive critical migrations end-to-end, and mentor senior engineers while advancing platform reliability and security at scale.

Qualifications

• Eight plus years in software engineering and large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience with Envoy/Istio or modern API gateway architectures.
• Strong systems-level programming in Go and/or Java.
• Experience designing authentication/authorization for high-throughput traffic.

Responsibilities

• Set architecture and direction for API Gateway and Service Mesh.
• Drive design and hardening of MCP Gateway, including auth flows for AI agents.
• Lead AI-agent-enabled traffic operations and service onboarding.
• Own major migrations end-to-end with backward compatibility in mind.
• Apply resiliency practices to reduce incidents and drive durable fixes.
• Act as escalation point during high-severity incidents affecting gateway or mesh.
• Mentor staff engineers and contribute to FY roadmap planning.
