Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to be based in Los Angeles or Orange, CA. You will join a team of ITS/Transportation Technology professionals and lead engineering production, technical deliverables, and project execution across the West Coast.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in ITS/Transportation Engineering, California project experience, and a strong background in Systems Engineering, architectures, and data networks. California PE license is preferred.

Qualifications

• BA/BS and 6 years+ experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• BS in Engineering degree with relevant ITS/Transportation focus.
• 10+ years of ITS and Transportation Engineering experience or equivalent.
• Expertise with ITS Systems Engineering including needs definition and system requirements.
• Experience with architectures, designs and plans for transportation systems.
• Experience with data/communication networks and fiber optic designs.
• California project experience and client relationships.
• Strong ITS design background and knowledge of emerging technologies (TSMO).
• Excellent written and verbal communication, organization and problem-solving.
• Hands-on system integration and teamwork with public sector clients.
• California PE license and ITS Architecture Process proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Be part of a team of ITS/Transportation Technology professionals.
• Lead, participate, and coordinate engineering production and project execution.
• Collaborate with ITS staff across the West Coast daily.
• Lead ITS engineering projects and design tasks across regions.
• Support project delivery across West Coast and other US regions.
• Support ITS projects for freeway, arterial, transit, signals, safety, and digital services.
• Analyze how to integrate systems to optimize operations and costs.
• Build and maintain relationships with colleagues across Business Lines.
• Assist or lead proposals for ITS projects and keep timelines.
