The primary purpose of the Senior Total WellBeing Manager is to develop, manage and actively promote a variety of work life and wellness programs offered through the Office of Human Resources in support of the University’s intent to achieve wellness program goals and objectives. The spectrum of programs will promote wellness in the areas of core benefits, work-life, healthy living, family, financial, education and community service. The wellness program portfolio will partner with various units across the Office of Human Resources, campus constituents, benefit plan vendors and community partners to provide programs, education and resources.
This position will manage Work Life & Wellness support staff, overseeing development, logistical planning and administration of programs and events for university employees. This will include partnering with vendors to plan, produce and implement programs; collaborating with co-workers, campus constituents and others to ensure success; including negotiating and contracting with program providers and facilitators and others; assisting with communications and publicity; and providing budgeting and financial tracking reports.
This position will also manage two Wellness Specialists who have various duties in support of wellness programs at UNC.
Master’s or Bachelor’s and 0-2 years’ experience; or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution.
This position requires professional knowledge of current developments and trends within the arena of programs related to work-life and wellness. The incumbent must have the ability to interpret the University’s priorities, mission and goals that support work-life and wellness programs.
The ability to coordinate and administer simultaneous and multi-faceted programs, projects and activities within resources and budget is necessary. The incumbent must demonstrate a strong ability to negotiate contracts, assess risk and apply quality control measures associated with delivered programs.
The position requires close collaboration across multi-functional resources. A sound ability to understand relationships and share knowledge and critical thinking to achieve mutually agreeable outcomes. The position requires strong communication skills, both oral and written. Familiarity with a variety of communication and media outlets is paramount to the success of program details reaching the desired audiences. The position requires ability to coordinate, facilitate and participate in a collaborative approach to the delivery of successful programs.
The incumbent must be able to review, summarize and analyze business operations, program information and data to determine and ensure compliance with program objectives and parameters.
Sound judgment, the ability to think and work under pressure, excellent communication skills, ability to work with limited supervision and prioritize effectively, and a sense of urgency when warranted are essential for this position.
This position requires the knowledge, skills and ability to supervise staff with a sense of fairness, spirit of teamwork and in a productive, positive and meaningful way.
Prior supervisory experience, and experience in the design, planning, support, and delivery of employee-focused work/life and/or wellness activities within a higher-education setting.
