Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a Manufacturing Design Engineer to design tooling, fixtures, and GSE for efficient space hardware production on Space Coast, FL. You will work with design and manufacturing teams to develop new build processes and rapid deployment of tooling concepts.

The role emphasizes manufacturability, DFx, and hands-on support during fabrication and testing. 3+ years in aerospace manufacturing is preferred; U.S. citizen or eligible status required.

Qualifications

• Minimum: B.S. in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years in manufacturing engineering, tooling design, GSE design, production support, or hardware development.
• Experience designing, developing, releasing, and implementing tooling, fixtures, handling equipment, or GSE for mechanical assemblies.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools, GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFM/DFMA, and configuration-controlled documentation.
• Experience supporting production operations, resolving nonconformances, improving processes, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills; able to work independently in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Design tooling, fixtures, handling equipment, and Ground Support Equipment for efficient manufacturing, assembly, integration, and test with emphasis on modularity and rapid implementation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new or revised build processes, tooling concepts, and concepts of operations.
• Plan for and support builds of engineering demonstrators, test articles, and prototype hardware with hands-on fabrication, assembly, and testing support.
• Drive Design for Excellence (DFX) principles and producibility assessments; support trade studies and roadmaps for manufacturing tech gaps.
• Define, develop, and refine tooling and GSE requirements for rapid design, fabrication, deployment, and iteration.
• Develop and maintain engineering documentation including CAD models, drawings, specs, procedures to support tooling and production.
• Support tooling fabrication, validation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement for safe, reliable lunar hardware production.
