Blue Origin is seeking an experienced engineer to design tooling and equipment for the New Glenn launch vehicle, applying advanced manufacturing to create efficient tooling solutions. You will integrate mechanical design concepts across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and ensure drawings meet ASME Y14.5 standards.

Qualifikationen

• B.S. degree in Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years’ experience with design, build, and commissioning of tooling, fixtures, custom machines or design support equipment for manufacturing, assembly, and test.
• Experience with FEM and complex structural analysis in addition to the ability to perform hand calculations including the creation of Freebody diagrams
• Proven experience with CAD based design software for modeling and drafting.
• Strong expertise in design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) including experience taking products from development design to rate production
• Proven understanding of common manufacturing materials, GD&T, and tolerance/stack-up analysis
• Proven understanding of common manufacturing processes and machines such as CNC machining, manual mills and lathes, welding, sheet-metal bending, lifting/rigging, assembly, inspection, etc.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Aufgaben

• Design tooling and equipment for the production and integration of the New Glenn Launch Vehicle.
• Capable of integrating concepts and principles of mechanical design and analysis of several projects in a fast-paced environment -- projects will vary in size and scale.
• Ability to interpret and apply sound design and drafting standards (ASME Y14.5) when creating drawings.
• Handle a wide range of technical design challenges related to all types of assembly fixtures, material handlers, rotisseries, test fixtures, structural weldments, environmental chambers, and custom machines.
• Work both independently and as part of a team. Committed to self improvement as well as supporting and developing your fellow engineers.
• Close collaboration with flight designers, manufacturing engineers, and integration engineering to achieve cradle-to-grave metrics (safety, cost, quality, cycle time, delivery, reliability, life, and maintenance/refurbishment).
• Manage projects, including vendor selection, fabrication, inspection, equipment installation, proof testing, and commissioning of custom tooling.
• Excellent communication skills, Set, implement, and maintain schedules and budgets to ensure project completion.
• Be committed to accountability, both individually and as part of a team.
