Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer to design tooling and fixtures for the New Glenn program. You will create CAD models and drawings, lead tooling projects from vendor selection through commissioning, and collaborate across flight, manufacturing, and integration teams to optimize safety, cost, quality, and delivery.

The role requires 10+ years in tooling design for manufacturing, strong DS&M skills, and familiarity with Creo/NX/Windchill, ANSYS, and ASME Y14.5.

Qualifications

10+ years' experience designing, building, and commissioning tooling and fixtures for manufacturing, assembly and test.
BS in Engineering or equivalent experience.
Proficient CAD design with manufacturing/assembly orientation; strong DFA/DFM and GD&T knowledge.
Experience with FEM/structural analysis and hand calculations; familiar with ASME Y14.5.
Knowledge of common manufacturing processes and materials; ability to manage projects end-to-end.

Responsibilities

Design tooling and equipment for production and integration of the New Glenn Launch Vehicle.
Interpret drawings per ASME Y14.5 and produce CAD models and factory-ready drawings.
Lead projects including vendor selection, fabrication, inspection, and commissioning of tooling.
Collaborate with flight designers, manufacturing, and integration engineers to optimize cradle-to-grave metrics.
Set schedules and budgets, track progress, and ensure timely project completion.
