Job summary

First American is seeking a Title Examiner to join our Agency Division. You will examine chain of title for residential properties and sometimes commercial, performing complex examinations and writing title products.

You will mentor teammates, provide underwriting interpretation, and may contact customers. A high school diploma and 5+ years of title experience, plus state licenses, are required. This role offers remote work in a national capacity with competitive hourly compensation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Typically 5+ years of directly related title examination experience.
• Tennessee Title Examination experience.
• Multiple state licenses (as required by state).
• Strong detail / quality orientation.
• Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
• Customer service orientation and MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Examine chain of title primarily for residential properties (may include commercial/industrial).
• Perform title examinations of complex orders requiring high title expertise.
• Abstract and analyze records (mortgages, liens, judgments, easements, vital statistics, plat/map books).
• Write title products based on guidelines and interpretation.
• Provide underwriting interpretation within established guidelines.
• Mentor less experienced team members.
• May have customer contact.
• Other duties as assigned.
