Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Sr. Telecommunications Designer for a hybrid, geographically flexible role in the United States.

You will provide design, modeling, and documentation services for our telecom team on advanced facilities projects, from Outside Plant to backbone distribution systems. You will coordinate with architects and other engineers, apply NEC and TIA standards, and deliver fully coordinated 3D BIM models using Revit MEP and Navisworks.

Qualifications

• Two-year technical degree or four-year non-technical degree.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in telecommunications design and construction industry.
• Knowledge & application of telecommunications industry association (TIA) standards.
• Knowledge & application of BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Services International) design practices.
• Knowledge & application of NFPA 70 (NEC) and electrical design requirements.
• Experience leading a telecommunications design team.
• Experience editing design and construction specifications.
• Experience with start-up and commissioning of telecommunications systems.
• Experience estimating and scheduling design efforts for large multi-building projects with multiple phases and design packages.
• Strong structured cabling design background.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam.
• Proficiency with Navisworks

Responsibilities

• Lead portions of very large and complex telecom projects as scope owner.
• Interface with client counterparts to design facilities meeting needs.
• Lead design of Outside Plant to backbone systems, room layouts, rack elevations, and cabling schedules.
• Ensure designs comply with NEC, TIA, and Jacobs specifications.
